Yellow Bird Indian Dancers in Yerevan

On 27 May at The Cascade in Yerevan, the Yellow Bird Indian Dancers performed for an assembled audience of local Armenians and representatives of diplomatic missions in Armenia, including the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Evans. The group originate from Arizona in the United States and were visiting Armenia as part of a series of performances held in the three South Caucasus republics. In addition to presenting  Native American Indian culture to Armenians, Azerbaijanis and Georgians the group also promote cross-cultural dialogue. At their performance in Yerevan, for example, the Yellow Bird Indian Dancers performed with Armenian musicians towards the end of their show. Local children were invited to join the group for a traditional Apache dance, and the finale also included the Yellow Bird Indian Dancers joining in for traditional Armenian dance. The event was sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Armenia and also included events in Gyumri and Ararat.
